new song - the thing about hearts

wrote a new song today. i'm not sure i fully know what it's about, but here it is...

the thing about hearts is
they can't help but insist
to make death look seductive
like a poisonous kiss

it's a strong mechanism
but it's foolish at best
it makes rubble of wishes
and dust of what's left

you can't love her
and she can't love you
you're just wrapped up in
what you're going through

it's not her
no matter how much you want it
it's not her
so just make yourself forget it and run

you can't blame the soil
it just does what it knows
it's the seed that was planted
that takes root and grows

and that's the thing about hearts 'cause
it just does what it feels
it can't tell the difference
between life and what kills

you can't love her
and she can't love you
you're just wrapped up in
what you're going through

it's not her
no matter how much you want it
it's not her
so just make yourself forget it and run

hold tight, don't lose heart
i know who you are
be not afraid
i know your name

northwest tour '09: driving

blakers slept most of the time. i drove most of the time. the new derek webb record was the soundtrack for most of it. we lived on a diet of mostly doritos and water (made in oregon).

doritos, i think i'll miss you most of all.

did you know there exists such a thing as a dorito casserole?

northwest tour '09: the rise of the crows

so, just outside of medford, oregon, there stands a giant crow. i just had to pull over...

northwest tour '09

on friday, july 10th, blake (drummer, navigator, twitter tracker) and i (david greco, singer/songwriter, road trip dj, skinny) hopped in a '02 kia spectra (on the road to earning the nickname, 'old faithful'), loaded to the brim with guitars and various percussion instruments, and headed up i-5, on our way to portland, or. over the next few days we will chronicle our adventures (as well as misadventures) as we embark on a journey to evangelize the great northwest, spreading our message of love, peace and the grexican way.
